MultiTalent Quest 2022

The sixth edition of the AUBG MultiTalent Quest gathers 46 high school students from Bulgaria and North Macedonia.

The AUBG MultiTalent Quest is a multidisciplinary competition that aims to challenge and yet inspire ambitious, versatile, and socially responsible high school juniors from around the globe. Traditionally, the quest is held on-ground, at the AUBG campus in Blagoevgrad.

MTQ Winner 2022

The winner of the competition’s sixth edition, Simona Trefandilova – a student from the 91st German Language High School – received a full scholarship for her four years of study at the American University in Bulgaria. For the second consecutive year, the scholarship is a generous donation from an AUBG alumnus and co-founder of Dynamo Software Dilyan Pavlov (’95).

I’ve been a part of the Quest for three years now and it blows my mind every time, seeing how truly multitalented these kids are,” said AUBG alumna and judge of the arts discipline, Anna Stoycheva (’16). “The best part for me, however, is coming to campus every Fall and seeing questers from previous years, who are now AUBG students – and knowing that the MTQ played a big role in their decision to study here.

Special Guest

The honorary guest and a dear friend of the university, the Counselor for Public Affairs of the U.S. Embassy in Sofia, Mr. Jeffrey Weinshenker, welcomed the participants and wished them the best of luck throughout the competition and beyond.

MultiTalents and Passions

During the opening ceremony of the competition, AUBG President Dr. David Evans underlined the importance of having multiple spheres of interest, both on professional and personal levels. “The MultiTalent Quest is one of the ways of identifying and cultivating relationships with students who have that special thing – more than one passion, more than one interest that keeps them engaged and gets them up in the morning,” he said.

While the set of mandatory disciplines consists of mathematics, debate, and a social-entrepreneurship-oriented task, the participants are free to choose between arts and sports as elective disciplines within the quest. Within each category, the participants shall demonstrate their communication skills, time management, social engagement, knowledge of English, and teamwork spirit.
