Support our Journalism Initiatives | AUBG Week of Giving

June 03, 2024

Welcome to the kickoff of our first-ever AUBG Giving Week! This is an exciting opportunity for you to join forces with fellow supporters and make a significant impact in Bulgaria, the Balkans, and beyond.

We want to showcase the powerful spirit and collective strength of our AUBG community. This entire week, we are focusing on raising funds specifically for scholarships. Every contribution, no matter the size, will change student lives. Let’s come together, contribute, and celebrate what we can achieve as one. Join us in making this inaugural Giving Week a tremendous success!

This Giving Week, we are focusing on a few key initiatives at AUBG. We are proud to introduce a very special one—the launch of the Christo Grozev Scholarship and Fellowship Programs.

The Christo Grozev Fellowship for Courageous Journalism and Christo Grozev Scholarship Program honor the achievements of the acclaimed investigative journalist and AUBG alum. They support students and practitioners pursuing excellence in journalism and aim to empower them to become impactful media professionals.

I am incredibly honored to receive the HRH Princess Maria Luisa AUBG Distinguished Alumni Award for Civic Leadership and Change. I am even more humbled to learn that new scholarship and fellowship programs have been named after me. This unimaginable recognition connects me profoundly with AUBG’s Journalism and Mass Communication program, which has been the most valuable launchpad in my life. I feel unworthy of having a scholarship and fellowship named after me, but I am committed to earning this trust. The scholarship aims to help underprivileged students achieve their maximum potential in journalism. To support this mission, I will make a personal donation to the scholarship fund and encourage my fellow alumni to do the same. Together, we can ensure the sustainability of this program and foster a continuous flow of talented and brave investigative journalists. Additionally, I pledge to volunteer my time as a mentor to journalism students and hope other alumni will join me in this effort. Thank you, Dr. Ensign, and thank you, AUBG, for everything you have given me.
