Program Manager

The Center for Information, Democracy and Citizenship (CIDC) at the American University in Bulgaria addresses critical challenges at the intersection of information, democracy, and citizenship. As a hub of interdisciplinary research, education, and public engagement, the CIDC is dedicated to empowering individuals and communities to navigate the complexities of the digital age with confidence and critical acumen. Through pioneering initiatives in cognitive security, countering malign influence operations, and promoting digital literacy, the CIDC aims to cultivate a global society resilient against misinformation and equipped to uphold the principles of democracy and informed citizenship.

The CIDC is seeking a dynamic and dedicated professional to head the effort with the ongoing projects and initiatives of the Center at the position of a Program Manager. The position is temporary, 1-year engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Oversee the planning, implementation, and tracking of diverse projects and initiatives within the CIDC, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and budget.
  • Funding Management: Manage and report on the funding provided by external donors, ensuring compliance with all donor requirements and guidelines.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a point of contact for donors, partners, and other stakeholders. Maintain strong relationships to foster ongoing and future collaboration.
  • Team Coordination: Facilitating the collaboration and communication among team members of the CIDC to achieve project objectives.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and documentation for donors, the CIDC management, and other stakeholders.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and issues that may impact project delivery and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Establish and maintain project monitoring and evaluation processes to ensure project outcomes are achieved and lessons are documented.

Requirements and Desired Qualifications:

  • University degree required; Master’s Degree is preferred;
  • Experience in managing projects is required;
  • Strong English, both written and oral, is required;
  • Communication skills both written and verbal, required;
  • Ability to balance responsibilities and work on tight deadlines, required;
  • Experience in project management, required;
  • Experience in event management, desired;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
