In the time leading up to the 26th Job Fair at AUBG, we will introduce you to some of the biggest companies to come to campus April 3. Our story began in China when American Cornelius Vander Starr started an insurance agency in Shanghai. Today, based in New York, AIG is established as a multinational market leader. We provide a range of insurance products to support our clients in business and in life: general property and casualty, life insurance, retirement, and financial services.

AIG in Bulgaria

AIG is the first foreign insurer in Bulgaria which entered the market of life insurance 22 years ago, providing services mainly to corporate clients, but also individual products for private customers. In the autumn of 2013, the company started building a strategic center in Sofia (Sofia Center of Excellence) whose main focus is on supporting the operations of its European business units, as well as optimizing and improving the existing processes. Currently, we are a team of nearly 500 people, supporting our consumer and business clients from more than 10 countries in Europe in 4 main business functions: Claims and Claims Operations, Policy Servicing, Travel Guard, and Multinational. Our culture promotes operational excellence and expertise, process improvement, knowledge sharing, integrity, and engagement.

What we are looking for

When choosing the right people to join the AIG family, we are not looking for specific previous experience in the field of insurance. More than 50 percent of the new starters in the company are actually fresh graduates, and for some of them, AIG is the first job. For us, the successful candidate is someone who possesses the competencies which would let them learn and grow with us and turn into true insurance professionals. We are looking for problem-solving oriented mindset, analytical thinking, willingness to learn, and ability to work well in a team. Proof of our commitment to developing our employees is the fact that most of the current managers in the center have started on entry-level positions and have grown internally.
